The main functions of graphite rings are as follows:

1. Refractory materials: Due to the high temperature resistance, good high-temperature strength, and corrosion resistance of carbon and graphite rings, many metallurgical furnace linings can be built with carbon blocks, such as the bottom, hearth, and belly of iron smelting furnaces, the lining of ferroalloy furnaces and calcium carbide furnaces, and the bottom and sides of aluminum electrolytic cells. Many crucibles used for melting precious and rare metals, as well as graphitized crucibles used for melting tempered glass, are also made from graphitized blanks.

2. Corrosion resistant structural materials: Graphitized electrodes impregnated with organic or inorganic resins have good corrosion resistance, good thermal conductivity, and low permeability. This impregnated graphite is also known as impermeable graphite. Widely used in the manufacturing of various heat exchangers, reaction tanks, condensers, combustion towers, absorption towers, coolers, heaters, filters, pumps and other equipment, widely used in industrial sectors such as petroleum refining, petrochemicals, wet metallurgy, acid and alkali production, synthetic fibers, papermaking, etc. It can save a lot of metal materials such as stainless steel.

3. Conductive materials: When using electric arc furnaces or mineral thermal electric furnaces to smelt various alloy steels, ferroalloys, or produce calcium carbide and yellow phosphorus, a strong current is passed through carbon electrodes or graphitized electrodes to the electric furnace smelting area, generating an arc that converts electrical energy into heat energy, raising the temperature to around 2000 degrees Celsius to meet the requirements of smelting or reaction.

4. Sealing function: Flexible graphite ring is a ring-shaped packing made by compressing high carbon graphite into flexible graphite sheet after chemical treatment and high-temperature expansion, then cutting it into strips and pressing it through molds. It can be compounded with metal foils such as nickel, copper, and lead according to different pressure requirements, and pressed into ultra-high pressure sealing packing for valves. This type of packing has the properties of corrosion resistance, low temperature resistance, and high temperature resistance, as well as good self-lubricating properties, high elasticity, and low torque. It is a widely used sealing packing.
